From the North Shore to Malibu, we love great coffee and support surf culture, sustainable coffee production, clean water, and the coastal lifestyle
Under Alberto Guardia, Hacienda Sonora, a 100-hectare farm at the foot of Costa Rica’s Poás Volcano, has been producing coffee since the 1970s. The farm is renowned for high-quality micro-lots with distinct varieties and processing methods. This honey-processed lot features the Obata variety, a cross between Villa Sarchi and Timor. Hacienda Sonora has a heavy focus on environmental and social impact—the farm uses 100 percent renewable energy that’s harvested on the farm and has also eliminated excess water usage by utilizing natural and honey processing methods. Sonora also provides workers and their families free accommodations, including most household utilities, in the farm’s houses.
